During production, the alcohol is gently evaporated, leaving behind only the flavour of the whisky. This means the honey can be enjoyed by everyone, while still delivering the warmth and character associated with classic Cranachan.
A wee bit of history behind Cranachan
Traditionally, Cranachan was a celebration of summer, prepared when raspberry bushes were heavy with fruit. Its origins can be traced back to rural Scotland, where simple, seasonal ingredients were transformed into something truly special. The name “Cranachan” is believed to come from the Gaelic word for “churn”, reflecting the traditional method used to prepare the dish.
While recipes have evolved over the centuries, the heart of Cranachan has always remained the same — raspberries, cream, and honey. The later addition of whisky, a spirit synonymous with Scotland, elevated Cranachan to iconic status, adding warmth and depth to this classic dessert.
Perfect for everyday indulgence
Rich and velvety, Cranachan Honey spreads effortlessly on toast, pancakes, or crumpets, and dissolves beautifully into yoghurt or porridge. Its balanced combination of sweet honey, tart raspberry, and gentle whisky notes makes it ideal for both everyday enjoyment and special occasions.
